Birthday Boy!

Our little baby is already one! Gideon's first birthday was a huge success! We had more fun than I can even write about - going to the zoo and the Children's Museum on his big day, then partying hard with family at his party the next Saturday. I will try to post pictures of his party tomorrow, but for now, here are his "official" one-year-old pictures we had made a couple of weeks ago. Of course, I can't mention his big day without saying what an absolutely wonderful year it has been with him. I never knew I would enjoy being a mom so much. I love him so much, and there are already so many things I miss now that my baby is a little boy... bathing him in the bathroom sink... those sweet 3 a.m. feedings... the way he looked all swaddled up with just his little face poking out of the blanket... reading the Children's Bible to him while he lounged in the baby tub... the way he used to grab his ears when we'd give him a bottle... watching him learn how to crawl... those tiny, tiny baby socks... his toothless grin... how easily his short hair would spike up with gel... I'll leave it at that for now, before I start getting emotional. (Alright, more emotional). Enjoy the pix.

The photographer asked if he could stand on his own, and we said, "Yes, but only for a few seconds, then he sits down." Well, not this time! I let go of his hands and he stood proud for over a minute or two! So, whereas Custer had his last stand, here is Gideon's first stand!

All he needs now is a remote...

Or some iced tea and a good book...

That profile makes me melt!

Just chillin'...

Is this the face of a Dennis the Menace, or what?

Happy (late) Birthday, Gideon! We love you!
