Where do I begin?
So much has been going on in the past few weeks, I don't know where to start. The Big Move has definitely taken its toll on the Ryan household. We closed on our new house on a Thursday at 4pm. We got the keys around 6, and by 7:30, the carpet was being ripped up in our Studio (to make way for wood laminate flooring) and the first strokes of paint were going on the walls. So began The Great Paint Marathon of 2007.
We were extremely fortunate to have lots of help. Our family showed up, paintbrushes and ladders in tow, and helped us tremendously in our labor of love. At one time I counted eight ladders in our house! By the next Thursday, which was Moving Day, all of Phase I was complete, which included painting all of the downstairs except the master bath and stairs, and painting everything upstairs except the two spare bedrooms. In addition, the Studio floor was complete!
If you're wondering how Gideon did during the GPM '07, he was awesome! We set up his pack and play in a spare bedroom for his naps, and he just played and socialized and was an all-round perfect angel! We really could not have asked for more. He was so cooperative, we were able to get lots done. As usual, he loved the activity going on all around him.
Now, a few weeks later, we have come a long way on the unpacking process, but it is still taking longer than I had hoped. I'm tired of seeing boxes! I know it's only been less than two weeks since we officially moved, but that's plenty long for me! As soon as we get settled, I'll post some before and after shots a la Extreme Makeover.
In other news, our family has grown by two since last I wrote! On the 21st, we traveled to Corpus Christi to meet our new nephew, Dallen Kade, brought into the world by Jason's sister, Sharla. He was a healthy, very cute, 9 lb 11 oz-er, and I'm hoping that he and Gideon will not only be cousins, but will be the best of friends as the years go by. They're so close in age, I can see them really enjoying each other as they get older.
Then, on the 27th, my sister-in-law, Chrissy, gave birth to the sweet and tiny Rebecca Lynn. She weighed about 5 lbs, 12 oz, and she too is healthy and oh-so-cute. Thankfully, both babies and both mommies are doing well! We thank God once again for his blessings on our family. Gideon is not even seven months old yet, and already he's older than three of his cousins! It's so fun to watch our family grow.
This is our first day with internet access in our new home, so maybe the blogging will be more regular than it has this past month. Then again, the boxes are mocking me from their temporary home in the middle of the floor, so maybe not...

Similarly, our boxes are mocking me from the garage. They are merciless. The more I go out to the garage to find stuff that's been packed and we need asap, the more angry I am at the boxes.
