Lacy Beth

Once again, I am a proud aunt! My sister, Meghan, gave birth to Lacy Beth Garrett on Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, at 12:14 pm. She weighed in at a wopping 9 lbs, 8 oz, (oh m'gosh!!) and is 20 inches long. Mommy and baby are doing great, and Meghan's exact words after Lacy was born were, "That was fun!"

We got the call at 4:30 am that her water had broken and they were on their way to the hospital. I was so excited I couldn't go back to sleep after that, so I got ready for work, fed Gideon, and headed to the hospital. I was so bummed that I had to work that day, but at least I was able to see Meghan before the big event, and I planned on going up there during lunch as well. Once at work, I was on pins and needles waiting for updates from our mom. At 11:30, she called me and said that Meg had started pushing and that if I got there in time, she'd let me stay in the room and watch! (I had always wanted to, but Meg didn't really want anyone but Ryan in the room. For some reason, drugs maybe?, she changed her mind.) So, I dropped my work, yelled a good-bye to my boss, and raced to the car. My guardian angels were on overtime, I'm sure, because I was speeding the whole way down the freeway, all the while staying on the phone with Sammie who was giving me a running commentary on what was happening. I ran into the hospital and was in the room for maybe 10-15 minutes when Sammie and I finally saw Lacy's cute little face enter the world! It was the most awesome thing ever, and I still have chills thinking about it. Meghan did so good, and I am so impressed! I am so glad I made it in time, and I even got back to work in time for our 1:30 appointment! It was the best lunch break I'd ever had!!

Of course, I know that you all want to see pictures after that, but we have this bad habit of letting our batteries die for every big event. So, while I did get a couple of pictures, I'll have to wait to post them until I recharge the camera. All I can say until then is that Lacy is super-cute, has a headful of dark hair, and cute little cheeks! Once again, our family has been blessed!
