So Who Needs a Due Date Anyway?
Well, Gideon's due date has officially come...and gone. Yesterday was the day we had marked on the calendar and looked forward to for 9 months, and instead of spending it in the hospital with our new little baby, we went to a pool party. (Don't worry, I only observed the pool activities!) Since Jason and I are both over-achievers, we've been prepared for this baby for weeks now. We cleared our calendars and haven't committed to any outings or activities at all during the month of August, just in case our son decided to come early. Well, that sure didn't happen, and now our calendars are so clear, we're getting bored just sitting around waiting. Thankfully, the pool party last night provided a nice distraction from the waiting game.
Part of the problem is that the doctor and I differ on the official due date. According to him, it's not until Aug. 31 because the baby was measuring smaller during initial ultrasounds. So, since first babies are statistically late, we could be looking at another two weeks before this child graces us with his presence.
So for all who are on pins and needles wondering when the big day will get here, sit back, relax, and don't worry about keeping your cell phones charged...we could still have a long road ahead of us!
