The Cotton Candy Chronicles
I went through many food aversions in the early months, and an occasional food craving in the middle, but the one craving that hit the hardest was a craving for cotton candy that hit me a few weeks after Easter. It all started because some genious in Babies R Us was wearing, eating, or holding something that smelled like cotton candy, and the minute I smelled it too, I was undone. It was all I could think about that entire weekend, however all of the grocery stores and WalMart-type stores were sold out. We kept getting the answer, "We had it in stock for Easter, but we don't have it anymore." But, just when I thought it was a lost cause, my wonderful husband found a place that carried it - Toys R Us. He bought me four small buckets of the pink and blue bites of heaven, and I was a happy mama!
Then came the 3rd trimester instructions from the doctor for me to take my standard glucose screening blood test. I did, it was no big deal, but when the results came in, my sugar levels were a little high. Jason is certain it's a result of my cotton candy craving. Who knows. Whatever the cause, I had to go in for a three-hour, more in depth, glucose tolerance blood test, which I took last week.
At my doctor's appointment yesterday, the results were in. Good news - no, I do not have gestational diabetes (which is the whole point in screening in the first place). Neutral news - the sugar levels were lower than the cut off points, but still high enough for the doc to tell me to watch my sugar in take a little. Which means...
No more cotton candy. :-(
(Incidentally, I think every store has the good stuff in stock now!)

Emily...It was great seeing you in, of all places, Los Angeles!! It sounds like you had a great trip, except for that one little hiccup on the plane. I hope to see you around, and tell your husband that it was great meeting him.

Hello Emily. This is my first time to visit your "space". I am very impressed! The nursery is darling and I know you and Jason will have a precious baby boy. I would like some grape jelly. See you at church. Jean McKinley

Emily,
I am so happy for you and Jason. Another way to introduce your baby and infant to scripture is to play a music CD with scriptures set to music for them during playtime - if they can learn twinkle twinkle little star, why not John 3:16. There are some of these CDs to be found at the Christian bookstore. Steve Green has two called "Hide 'Em in Your Heart" that are really great. I have also produced one with some friends at church and are working on 2 more at this time. Keep seeking the Lord. Sincerely, Danielle
