Forts and Sleepovers
An important milestone in any young child's life: the first impromptu fort! I caught Gideon and Canaan under their first makeshift "fort" the other day, and had to share! I'm sure Canaan had no clue what was going on, but Gideon wanted him under with him anyway.

Gideon had his third birthday a couple of weeks ago, and as soon as I can get the pictures from Jason's computer, I will post pictures. But, as it was Labor Day weekend and his cousins were in town, we also seized the opportunity to have the boys' first sleepover too! It was totally exhausting - I mean, tons of fun! - and I think the boys had a blast. Dallen wasn't able to come, as he was sick, so we *only* had four boys in the house that night.
Braeden, Carsten, and Gideon playing in Gideon's room.

Even Canaan enjoyed playing with the big boys.

A little left over birthday cake before bed. Yeah, that's smart.

Gideon was so excited to have his cousins sleep in his room. At first, they all wanted to sleep in Gideon's new tent, but thankfully we talked them out of that.

Gideon's excitement continued the next morning as he started waking everyone up at 6:30 am! So, blueberry waffles for everyone!

Now, a little fun with Play-Doh.

And when it's 9 am and they've already played with every toy in the house and you've yet to brush your teeth, change your clothes, or load the dishwasher, you send them outside to play with bubbles!

They would have stayed out there all day, but by 10 or so, Jason and I realized we had to come up with something else. So, we took them all to the movies and to Chic-Fil-A.
The whole day was a blast, and Gideon is already begging to have another sleepover soon. To be honest, I can't wait either!
Gideonisms for the week:
# He came running up to me while I was vacuuming the other day and said, "Mom, are you okay?" I said, "I'm fine. Why?" His reply: "Oh, good. I thought you got bit by a crocodile!"
# Then we went "camping" the other day in his room, and as we were "fishing" with wrapping paper tubes as our fishing poles, his eyes would get wide, he'd smile really big and whisper, "Mom! I think I got something!" Then he'd pull up the "pole" and exclaim, "It's a fish!"
I figured I had learned how this pretend world worked, so I did the same. "Gideon, I think I got something!" Then I pulled my pole up, he took one quick look and said confidently, "No you didn't."
Finally, I'll leave you with a link to the Alphabet Book that I wrote for Gideon. It took way too long and cost way too much, but since he's so interested in letters these days, I think it ended up being a wonderful personalized tool for him to continue learning. Hopefully, the link will work...
