Two Months Already

Well, my sweet baby is already two months old! (Actually, two months and ten days; I'm a little behind on getting this posted.) I think I've mentioned before that I'm totally in love with this little boy, but in case you missed it, I'll say it again - I love this kid!

Life with Canaan has been a joy, and my only complaint so far would be that life is so busy I don't get to spend near as much time just holding him and staring at his cute little face as I'd like. He's already gotten so big! At his two month check up, he was up to 10 lbs, 4 oz, and there are several outfits he's already outgrown.

He's also started intentionally smiling a lot, mostly after he eats. Of course, I've been trying to get a good picture of his sweet smile, but so far, it seems I only get his serious looks on film.

He also continues to be a very easy child. He seems quite laid back, and does not have many crying spells. He did go through a few days of meltdowns a couple of weeks ago, and we were thinking for awhile that our luck with easy babies was about to run out. But, it turns out, he just likes to go to bed early, and so as long as we put him to bed around seven or so, we're usually able to avoid the nightly meltdown.

We had baby dedication at church a couple of weeks ago and Canaan was the youngest baby there.

He also finally got to meet his cousins on the Ryan side awhile back. The boys were very excited to see him, and all three rushed over to get a closer look when we first walked in the door.

Later, the two older boys rode in the van with us on the way to go eat, and Canaan started crying while we were stopped in a parking lot for awhile. Immediately Braeden, Carsten, and Gideon all started mothering him trying to get him to stop crying.

He already seems to love big brother, too, as he always watches him where ever he goes. And Gideon loves it when they're able to wear their matching Mickey shirts as well. I don't know what we'll do when Canaan outgrows his!

And, Canaan also likes it when Gideon "reads" to him too. Big brother is nice enough to show him the pictures as he reads.

Of course, not every moment is Hallmark-worthy between the brothers, which is to be expected. We knew we were in trouble during baby dedication when the preacher challenged all of the older siblings in the room to be good role models for their younger brothers and sisters and Gideon promptly stuck his fingers in his ears!

So there you have another recap of our life with our sweet little boy. Have I mentioned that I love this kid??!
