One Week - tops
In typical Ryan Family fashion, the past month has been chaotic and busy! We made it through Christmas Festival, another magazine deadline, Christmas, our 5th wedding anniversary, New Year's, and birthday celebrations for cousins Lacy and Brooke. Now, in what seems like a blink, we're on the cusp of baby Canaan's arrival, which could be a week from today!
We had somewhat of a wake up call last week at my regular doctor's appointment. Canaan's heart rate was slightly lower than usual, so the doc sent me to the hospital to get monitored and to get a quick ultrasound. Everything turned out just fine, but it made us realize this baby could come sooner than we expected! I've been having contractions for quite awhile now, which the doc could see on the monitor, so he suggested moving the date of the c-section up a little. It was going to be the 15th, now we're hoping to make it to the 12th. I have another appointment tomorrow and we'll go from there. We're praying we can make it that long because Jason has another magazine to get out between now and then! I really want him to be able to enjoy the birth of his second son without the stresses of work lurking in the background, but we're just trusting God's timing on all of those details we can't control anyway!
While we were in the hospital, Gideon told the nurses, "After the hospital, we're going to Disney World!" Not sure where he got that, but it gave everyone a good laugh.
The Christmas Festival at church went really well, and we all had a great time! My Bible study class ran a game booth, which was tons of fun, and the weather was perfect both days for the carnival and program both! All of our photos from the past month are on Jason's computer, so for now, here are a few of Gideon enjoying the festival.
Playing in the snow and loving it!

He loves to go on stage any time Jason is preparing for a service. This time, the outdoor stage just happened to have a trampoline on it for the program! Even better!

Finally, here is a picture that one of our magazine photographers captured of us while we were out enjoying the festivities. The truth: I was raiding Gideon's bag for candy! :-)

I have the best of intentions to get more updates and photos posted over the next few days, but of course, nesting must come first! And, I got a new laptop for Christmas, so I even have grand plans of posting photos from the hospital as soon as Canaan gets here, but again, logistics and reality will trump intentions. Just know for now, I'm still here, I'm huge, and I'm just taking it one day at a time...
