Thanksgiving Highlights

We had a great Thanksgiving at Nana and Papa's house. Aunt Chrissy worked long and hard making these cute little Indian vests for the younger kids, then ended up having to stay home because Brooke was sick! But, she sent the vests over anyway, and Gideon loved wearing his.

And, Thanksgiving wouldn't be complete without a tea party. I guess that's what happens when you're in the house with just female cousins. But Gideon had a great time drinking his tea with Ashley and Shelby, and later played "restaurant" with Madison and Ashley for over an hour!

It's a good thing he's getting the dining experience now. I decided the other day that we're about to have to start hosting dinner parties for the kid with the way he's been talking lately. During breakfast a couple of weeks ago, he told Grandma, "I had fun at the park the other day." Then, at supper last week, he asked Jason, "Dad, did you have a good day at work today?" It's just funny how quickly he evolved from sentence fragments and speaking in the third person to full-fledged conversations. Last night, on the way home, he told me, "I want to go to Toys R Us, then Penny's, then Best Buy." We never know what's going to come out of his mouth next!

The downside, of course, is that this kid can argue with the best of them!! He can turn any command into the opposite with no thought at all. If I tell him not to go outside, he'll try to anyway. "Gideon, what did Mommy say?"

"Mommy said to go outside."

"I don't think so."

Then comes his rebuttle for everything. "Um, I fink so."

Needless to say, we've been fully practicing the Proverbs 23:13 style of parenting these days... :-)
