The Mickey Party

In a continued effort to catch up on blogging, here are the highlights from Gideon's 2nd birthday party. Originally, we had it scheduled for the day that Ike hit. But instead of partying that day, we sat around an empty, quiet, hot house wishing it was filled with chaos and family like planned. A few weeks later, we got our wish...

A close-up of the cake.

The Mickey-shaped sandwiches we served for lunch. PB&J for the kids; chicken salad for the adults.

He loved blowing out his candles and had to do it twice!

Opening all of his gifts. He had such a good time and got distracted by each present. Thankfully, all of his girl cousins were there to boss him around and try to keep him on task.

A very happy birthday boy with all of his great presents. He had a blast at his party and still talks about it often.

When we were in Disney World, we taught him how to answer when someone asks how old he is. "Two years old," he'll say, and sometimes try to hold up two fingers to show them. He still hasn't gotten that part down yet. The other day he was playing with his tape measures trying to measure all of his toys. I asked him, "Gideon, how long is that piece of wood?" He pulled out his trusty tape measure, measured it and replied, "Two years old." And no matter what he measures now, that's always how "long" it is.
