Dear Blog,

I'm sorry I've been neglecting you. I know it's been three months since I last posted anything, and I know it's been even longer than that since I posted anything worth reading. I haven't forgotten about you, I promise. It's just that there's...someone else.

Actually, there are several someone elses.

There's the almost 4-year-old someone else who I've been teaching to read during times when I could be spending time with you.

There's the 18-month-old someone else who is walking and running everywhere now, and it's usually away from me.

There's the 30-something someone else who I spend time with on the couch each night watching meaningless TV shows together because that's the only chance we have to be alone.

Then there's the something elses of the past few months that involved everything from months of nausea, losing baby Benjamin, several out-of-town excursions, new nephew, wedding of college roomie, and whatever else I've forgotten about because there's not much room left in my head anymore.

So yes, dear blog, you've been neglected. I won't say replaced, because I intend to keep our relationship going on the side. But I will admit you've been... demoted.
