Magnolia Memories
No more depressing blogs for awhile; I promise! :-)

Today marks five years since Jason and I first met on a blind date. I opened my door to a handsome stranger, never imagining that I was looking into the eyes of my future husband for the very first time. He handed me a magnolia from his magnolia tree in his yard, and I knew right away that he was something special. Every other flower I'd ever gotten had been store-bought and typical - roses mostly; this guy had picked the flower himself, something different, from his very own backyard!! We planted a new magnolia tree at our new house just so that we'd always remember that day.
You know the story; he proposed a mere 40 days later! He didn't even realize the significance of the 40 days until after he had the plan in motion. In the Bible, 40 days is always a significant time of preparation or testing. For us, God used those 40 days of dating to prepare us for marriage - and all that has come with it! Parenting, the ups, the downs, changing jobs, moving, losing loved ones, celebrating life, sickness, health, times of plenty, times of want, good times and bad... we've been through it all in a mere five years. Here is the very first picture taken of the two of us together - a few minutes after he popped the question!

For Mother's Day this year, he gave me another ring. This one has two blue sapphires (Gideon's birthstone), and he said they remind him of the blue eyes both me and Gideon share. How sweet is that!

Thank you for allowing me to be mushy tonight. :-) Now, if you don't mind, I'm done talking to you people... there's a man downstairs and I think he deserves some kissin'!
